We interviewed fetish photographer and nftreats artist Nonothing. The usually very private photographer gave us an excessive interview about his work and his art. He is dropping his first NFTs on market.nftreats.art TODAY, Friday the 19th of November 2021.

Let’s ease into it! How are you doing NoNoThing?

I’m ok you know, drinking my coffee, early morning in a colder than usual Lisbon. Freddie Gibbs on shuffle/repeat

How did you get your start in Fetish Photography?

From a marketing campaign I did for a fetish night I ran some years ago. Asked a bunch of people to turn up, rented a camera (i had no idea how to use ), and just went for it.

How did you first hear about NFTs and what did you think about them at first?

I find the crypto space extremely liberating and exciting in many facets of life. NFTs for me are an extension of that freedom and a future-forward contribution to the art world as a whole. I was first told about them by a friend and the lights just went on.

Is there a shot, or creative approach that is intrinsic to your style? That is identifiable yours and if so what made you pursue that style?

I suppose more obviously is the use of red lighting. It seems to make frequent appearances throughout most of my work and although I try and challenge myself by not using it as much, I’d probably never leave them at home….

Any advice for other artists wanting to get into fetish photography?

I think just being as unapologetically you as you can be is the best approach. Don’t focus too much on what everyone else is doing.

Artists tend to want to reinvent themselves. Did fetish photography ever feel limiting to you at any point?

absolutely, I try and explore all aspects of the subject. An image I may make may not have any easily recognisable fetish tropes in there but maybe explore the power dynamic between two objects for example.

The more I think about it, it’s not just an endless well of inspiration to draw from, intellectualising the subject and of course experiencing it IRL seem to give me so much inspiration.

Do you feel the NFT space is more open to erotic art than the traditional art world?

Tough call to make, I think pretty soon it’ll be hard to separate the two.

If you could choose 1 piece on nftreats.art which one would it be and why?

there are so many amazing works in the marketplace, the one that caught my eye recently was SEX GOD IN HEAVEN by 340wmatic

Who’s the most inspirational person you’ve met through the NFT space so far?

I’d probably say an artist called Tom Fry and steve spirals, he bought my first. If you could choose one feature to be implemented on nftreats.art what would it be?

It’s pretty fully-featured, dark mode might be nice.

We are hosting a Twitter Space together with the artist tonight, 19th of November 2021 at 7:30pm CET. We’re going to talk about photography, NFTs, erotic art and more! We can’t wait to see you there!
